2020 Calendars - Week 09

You might think that after posting Saturday Morning Toons yesterday that i'd realize today was Sunday. Well, i realize it now - with about 11 minutes left, and less than 15 before this post is supposed to go live.

Fortunately, i've got a few prepped and ready, just need the proper dates. But that means we just get the minimum this week - one of each of our 3 ongoing calendars.

For the Pin-Up Calendar, another classic composition from Rolf Armstrong -

I believe this is the first in this year's calendars for "Jack" Greiner with the April 1933 Gayety cover our Covers Calendar -

And for our Blue Calendar this week, Zoë Mozert returns with a stark portrait in blue, available in our adult content area.
Here's a direct link to the full version of this post.

As always, the calendars are sized to print 8"x10" at 150dpi, with 1" square spaces for notations.

2020 Calendar - Week 02

We'll keep it simple this week - only one of each calendar style - just so we don't start patterns of overkill.

For our Pin-Up Calendar, we've got an Al Moore girl staying warm in winter wear, sort of...

...and our Old Magazine Covers calendar features Rolf Armstrong from January 1919...

Let me pause to remark on how much i enjoy the ... quality of light on the faces of Rolf's portraits. That's the best way i can think to phrase it, so let's take a quick look at a few to see what i mean -

It's not surprising his work was so popular and featured on many magazine covers.

We'll be seeing a fair bit of both Moore & Armstrong on this year's calendars. And we've got Earl Moran for this week's Blue Calendar, and a bit more, in our Adult Content 'back room' - The Other Voice Of ODD! Step on back past the security guard checking ages to see the uncut version of this post.

As always, the calendars are sized to print 8"x10" at 150dpi, with 1" square spaces for notations.

2020 Vision

As many of you know, 2019 was an epic failure for calendars around here. I've got an eye towards the new year coming up and i'm making plans (and actual pages) to carry on in the tradition of the 2018 Gil Elvgren calendar. And a bit more, too.

That means a weekly calendar format, but i'll be offering a few choices. How many options is still uncertain. At least 3, possibly more. Currently planned are two classic pin-up art calendars - one "Good Girl" and one "Bad Girl." By that, i mean that there will be one nice calendar here, and another in the 'back room' where the girls take their clothes off.

Obviously, it would be cruel to make any single artist follow after Gil Elvgren, so the 2020 calendars will all feature several artists for a variety of works.

The third option currently in the works uses old magazine covers with paintings from a lot of great old artists.

And now that we're speaking of those artists, let's take a look at some of those that we'll be featuring. Don't worry - we won't be using any of the artwork that's scheduled for the calendars.

With 52 weeks and at least 3 - perhaps as many as 6 - calendars, that's going to be a fair number of artists. So we'll just look at 9 of them today to get things started.

Rolf Armstrong

Earle Bergey

Enoch Bolles

Mabel Rollins Harris

Harry Lemon Parkhurst (among other HLs)

Konstantin Razumov

Edward Runci

Arthur Sarnoff

Hugh Joseph Ward

I'll run another batch fairly soon. More than just to give a peek a whose work we'll be seeing, this also provides the opportunity for you to influence how prominently some artists are featured. You may also suggest other artists while i'm still in the gathering and compiling stage. You might even suggest artists already in the pile. That's okay, it just means i'm choosing well.
