2020 Calendars - Week 11

Bloody Hells.
I went to post this week's calendars, and find that somewhere I lost a day; it's already Monday evening. You probably knew that. I'm still reeling. But here's the planned post that should have gone up at 12:03 this Ante-Meridian:

Y'know - i may be digging a hole for later me, but i feel like tripling again. So let's do 3 of each of our 3 calendar artists this week.

For our Classic Pin-Ups Calendar, please welcome a newcomer to the roster - Mr. Art Frahm. Art is one of those artists who has something to say...

...well, perhaps not 'something to say' exactly...

...but he definitely offers his own distinct views...

Of course, he'd be greatly handicapped by modern wardrobes.

I think i may have said i'd try to move away from Enoch Bolles for a bit on the Covers Calendars.

I failed -

Someday i'd like to see a count of how many magazine covers he painted.

For our Blue Calendars this week, let's return to one of the true masters of the form - Gil Elvgren -

These calendars contain nudity, and so they are tucked back behind the age check in our 'back room'. This link will take you to the uncut version of this post.

This next one i find oddly intriguing. Mr. Elvgren seems to have been trying a little something different, slightly more stylized, reflecting other art trends of the time...

...and back for a classic Elvgren end -

As always, the calendars are sized to print 8"x10" at 150dpi, with 1" square spaces for notations.

2020 Calendars - Week 10

10 weeks without missing post time. (Okay - by only 2 minutes once, but still) Definitely doing better than last year.

We've got a trio of returning artists for this week's selections, starting with another piece from Mike Ludlow on our Classic Pin-Ups Calendar -

Enoch Bolles returns (yet) again for our Covers Calendar with Redhead Mistress painted for the March 1924 issue of Snappy Stories -

For a bonus this week, we've got an unused, more risque variant painting for the cover -

After our two non-nude nudes, we go to arguably the greatest pin-up calendar artist, Gil Elvgren, for a bit of actual nude with our Blue Monday Calendar -

Of course, since it does feature nudity, you'll have to visit our adult content back room to see if you think that was worth waiting for. Here's a direct link to the uncut version of this post.

2020 Calendars - Week 05

This week we've got a few names that'll be very familiar to some and rather obscure to others.

To start off, Edward Runci supplies the artwork for our Pin-Up Calendar -

And we've got Earle Bergey for our Covers Calendar -

For a nice bonus, here's the uncluttered original art for that cover -

For this week's Blue Monday Calendar, we've got plural. Al Buell leads off with a classic beauty, and i just couldn't let the first month pass without at least one from our favorite calendar artist, Gil Elvgren. (Don't fret - i made sure it wasn't a repeat from our 2018 calendar)

Head on to our 'back room' for the adult content calendars.

Blue Monday Calendar 2018 Week 53

Yes, i know that there are only 52 weeks in a year, but that doesn't mean they're contained to 52 weeks on a calendar.  Terribly inconvenient of them, but what can you do?
(Well, okay - we could post before the year expired, but the computer wasn't cooperating. Obviously it did finally boot up yesterday - i left it on overnight to avoid the problem this morning)

Our final painting from the great Gil Elvgren is Riding High from 1958 -

Okay - I done oopsed. So busy trying to push my brain into Xmas mode that i missed the final Monday of the year. Our last painting from Gil Elvgren is Bear Facts (A Modest Look; Bearback Rider) from 1962 -

Blue Monday Calendar 2018 Week 51

I find the face to be a special delight in Gil Elvgren's painting for this week, Moonlight And Roses (Miss Sinclair 1965) from 1963. (You'll have to work out that contradiction for yourselves)

Only one yet remains...

Blue Monday Calendar 2018 - The Missing Weeks

This week's calendar is appearing on The Other Voice Of ODD! due to the ... unabashed nature of the image.

Blue Monday Calendar 2018 Week 35

Smoke Screen is this week's lovely Gil Elvgren painting from 1958 -

Yes - i'm still alive, even if the computer is barely on life support. Hopefully what we need will arrive this week, but who knows if that'll make things better instead of worse this time? Meanwhile - it's 60 degrees outside and i'm sitting here with the Air Conditioning blowing full blast and freezing to keep this unit running long enough to post and check emails.
I'll return when i can.

It would just be cruel to make anyone else follow a year of Elvgren's beautiful works.

Blue Monday Calendar 2018 Week 27

Some readers may have noticed that yesterday was the 1st of July, yet no calendar pages were offered for this month. Alas, the files are all inaccessible with the current computer situation. Thankfully, the source archives for the Blue Monday Calendar are old enough to be located on an external drive small enough to be read by this ancient beast upon which the blog is maintained.

This week's Gil Elvgren painting comes from 1952, entitled Surprising Catch -

Elvgren Extra Eleven

I'm in the mood for some more Gil Elvgren artwork today. But that can be a bit tricky...

Some may have noted that on occasion the Blue Monday Calendar arrives a tad late.
One might think that i'd prep those well in advance to avoid the problem. After all, a typical post often requires more artwork prepared than would be necessary for a seasonal quarter worth of weekly calendar pages.

I'm one of those folks who prefers not to look ahead at the calendar pages, and so each week gets prepped as the previous week ends. That makes today's post a little tricky. After a minimal glance at the thumbnail collection on the back of the old calendar we're using for this year's BMC, i hopefully avoided any of the paintings yet to come this year. Looking closer would have been self-defeating, so we'll just have to hope that those autonomic sorting functions in my brain are still tolerably up to par.

If there are any duplications, they're probably coming in the next week or so, just to laugh. We'll find out.
Meanwhile...
