Who's That Mucking About Down Below?

As we noted yesterday, She-Hulk was well aware of her status as a comic book character (long before ol' Deadpool figured it out).

As long as you're in comics, might as well parody other comics, right? And so they did...










...and those bits are all from just one single issue!

Of course, she wasn't limited to just parodying comics...

  1. Loved this era of She-Hulk. John Byrne was at full speed, one of the last times I fully enjoyed his work alas. There was a nifty light flavor to the book, a frothy fun which went away when the very capable Steve Gerber took the reins. Gerber was pointed, but his humor always had a ragged edge, it left a wound. Byrne just wanted to josh.

  2. That's a good way to describe Gerber's satire, and i agree with your distinction. I liked both, but in different ways. That difference led to Byrne playing more inward - with the people behind the book and such, while Gerber poked outward - at the world around them.
    When Byrne returned, the break seemed to have helped, too.
