Enjoy It, No Matter How You Spell It

Hanukkah is the most popular spelling.
Chanukah is second. There is a list with at least 16 spellings for the holiday.

Sometimes it's simpler to just say it with pictures...

No matter how you spell it, today is the first day of Hanukkah for 2019. Like Easter, one needs to be a scholar or own a calendar to know when to celebrate each year. It's a major religious holiday known to most in this country, but not everyone who isn't Jewish knows just what they're celebrating.

Fortunately, it's not hard to find out -

Hanukkah (the book, not the holiday) was written by Miriam Schlein and illustrated by Katherine Kahn to teach children about the holiday. Let's read along and learn with them, shall we? (My apologies for the small size and quality of the scans - resources were quite limited.)

And now you've got the basics.

Umm - okay.

There might still be a thing or two to learn...

Moving Pictures

Still thoroughly degumptionated around here. I need to do some cleaning, clearing, rewiring and furnituring before i can put the alternate system into service.

Maybe today - we'll see.

Meanwhile, since there's nothing doing in these parts, let's step out and look somewhere else on the net.

Are you familiar with comic artist Kerry (or even Terry) Callen? We've seen his Super Antics here once previously, but have yet to get back to him. Every now and again, he likes to play with old covers. The results can be entertaining...

If you like those, you can find more of them, and some animated interiors as well, available on Kerry's blog - along with a variety of other things, including unpublished artwork. He doesn't post often, but it can be entertaining.

And i like those covers.

Oddly enough, there's also a strong connection between Kerry and the artwork seen in the Maintainance Report <sic> a couple posts back. Maybe the ol' peripatetic brain will wander over that way...

Pacific Northwest Hermit Visual Reference

As you may have guessed, main system still down. Or down again, to be more accurate. It's gone through a couple fixes, and it seemed to be good - ran for a couple of hours doing everything from test renders to games and vids without any issus.

But 5 minutes after i tried to resume work, the system went dark again. The Universe really hates the idea of me producing new artwork. It's been doing a damn fine job of preventing it for the last few years.

New components will hopefully arrive in a week. In the meanwhile, i believe i'll be putting another system into service soon. My oldest son is currently on long haul trucking runs with his lovely lady, so his desktop box sits unused.

The question becomes, will my hardware curse transfer over if his system goes into service here? Oh, the suspense...

Meanwhile, the previous post on the History murdering villain Paul Termann to the contrary, i do prefer to include at least one image with every post. With that in mind, here's a bit of chicken scratching from a few years back - a fairly up-to-date and accurate visual guide to the Pacific Northwest Hermit Artist in the wild.

Just in case you spot it wandering outside the cave...

Let's Go Recolonelize The Multiverse!

A quickie post to reassure all that i didn't just post a couple and crawl to the back of the cave again. Still working back up to daily posting (need to grab a few more visuals for the piece in progress), but should be a full post tomorrow.

Meanwhile, under the heading of Chickens Before Spiders...

Remember that one in the middle where Colonel Sanders had to posse up his multiversal counterparts to save Fried Chicken?

From the 2nd of 3 DC/KFC comics, featuring the evil Colonel Sunder from Earth 3. (And that chicken headed Kolonel in the back is from Kamandi's world, if you was wondering)

These'uns Ain't So Deathly

Midnight soon approaches here and the good times begin. So a final Happy Hallowe'en post.
I haven't been doing any painting since the technical problems manifested some weeks back, so no new Halloween artwork this year. Instead, a couple of very different pieces the past. A painting from last Halloween, and Halloween greetings from my old web comic earlier in the decade-

G'night folks!
Drive careful.
