Accent On The Mental

I'm continuing to run the old TIM pages from experiMental Theatre, but the content grows more unsuitable for the front room as it progresses, so it's all on The Other Voice Of ODD!.

This morning has the next 30 strips (including the one above), and we'll run about another 100 pages over the next few days. Here's a direct link to the full version of this post.

Back In The Daze

Sorry no posts this weekend. I've been locked in an inward spiral and having a bit of difficulty finding the exit.

While i'm down here, i figured i could get back to things by raiding my own past. For a while, i did a webcomic called experiMental Theatre. The first arc was entitled TIM or This Is Me. I did very bad things with a cyber-voodoo doll, but we'll get to that later. Today, let's just look at the opening strips to get an idea of what sort of weird world it was. (I'd say 'to get an idea of what was going on' but that's probably misleading)

The strip was done fast and loose - minimal pencils and speed inking for a frantic brush style. And strictly black and white - no greys. So lots of hatching and odd line work for textures, with a fun additional challenge of getting psychedelic without colour (later in the series).

So, go ahead and dive in - you can claim you were pushed. I won't say a word...

At this point, we get the first nudity (of which there was a fair bit, along with other things like Language, Violence and eventually Sex), and so this strip is only visible in our back room for adult content. Later, we'll have to continue this discussion back there in the Other Voice of ODD!. Here's a direct link to the uncut version of this post. For the moment, let us summarize - 

Our protagonist ran full tilt into a thick tree branch and knocked himself unconscious. A naked girl comes along, pokes him with a stick, and then gleefully punts him over the treeline and off a cliff...

Missing Things

Yes, i know we were supposed to be back with Lily & Jane by now. Things have been a little Odd - i believe the expression is "as per frickin' usual"

Computer problems continue to be of the WTF nature. Those spontaneous crashes that were happening even though the system was doing nothing at the time? It seems that the system was just getting bored. As long as i leave a video or something running at all times, the crashes stopped and have not returned.
No, it has nothing to do with screen savers or power management or anything - it's just the kind of makes-no-damn-sense problems that are standard with my systems, and my life in general.

I've also been distracted by fun cartoons like 'Mazing Man!...

...and the Creature Commandos... 

You folks enjoyed those old toons, right?

Also, it seems to be November now.

That means i missed little things like, my birthday, Halloween, doctor's appointments, and my youngest son getting married -

-but, really - we'll be back with more of Lily Renée's run on Jane Martin right soon.

This Is Me (Again Or Still)

I know that some would like to know more about the hermit behind the words, beyond the small snapshots that spill out in the ramblings. Every now and then i'll manage to get perhaps too open in an off-kilter sort of balance. But generally, i find it hard to consciously talk about my odd life, no matter how suited it might be to the topic of the blog. Somehow, that's largely detached from wandering through old memories, because i'm focused on the memories and not myself. It's something i'll try to work on.

Of course, that doesn't leave much for this post, does it?

Fortunately, there are still some small societies that tell my story, and the story of my peoples. So, we'll go to their tribal writ-

Moon Girl Bonus Qubit

It is Moon Girl, and yet - it isn't.

We saw this morning that with issue #9, Moon Girl Fights Crime changed once again to become this:

Now that A Moon, A Girl... Romance was the title, you might assume that Moon Girl was gone. Yes, and No. You see, they did this terrible thing to her - made her a background character who now fights heartbreak instead of alien invasions.

We learn of Mary Lou's tribulations in her generic romance tale with no sign of Moon Girl until the final two pages:

Better to have left her in publishing limbo than in this state.
And, yet...  I can still find more of Moon Girl in that comic than i can in the 2011 revival-

The only connection seems to be pirating the old names to new characters and relations. I wasn't able to wade through much, so no full analysis here.
No Moon Girl (nor The Prince), either.
