The Sound Of Funnies

DC has published a fair number of truly Odd books over the years. Some we're bound to get to since they came out a half century ago this year. But this morning, let's go to one of their most overtly odd titles for our Sunday Morning Funnies.

Even before it was released, they embraced the odd and made that the focus of the book - the advertising for the book slapped us in the face with it:


When Plop! finally did arrive, they took the time to explain the concept to the readers...

    Loved Plop! but alas didn't get that many issues. Was not able to follow everything back then. We needed a dandy Plop Showcase volume, but alas I guess that will never be.

    Five more years.
    Then it'll be the 50th anniversary and surely there'll be Plop! retrospective, right?

    It was pretty much impossible to follow everything back in those days before comic shops. I picked up perhaps 1/3 of the issues upon release. The rest were found later in convention quarter boxes. Sometimes it can be a good thing when not everyone appreciates the things i like and i can get them for cheap.
