So far as i know, that's the last anyone ever saw of Henrietta and company. But there's lots more Borth artwork to love, along with many other treasures in the Chest, so we'll be back once again.

Actually I WASN'T reading along--asleep at the wheel, I guess--but I just caught up. This one started off extra goofy & cartoony but was still pretty good and also calmed down a bit after the first few episodes. And it wasn't just gender-flipped but had one of those generational hand-offs that are common in kid-centered movies, especially the third in a series, though C. S. Lewis pulled it off more than once in the Chronicles of Narnia as well. Some things were a little off here like the antagonist complaining about a fifty-dollar fine and then shelling out TEN THOUSAND dollars like it was no big deal. And how many flivvers did he kidnap to gain his flivver-kidnapping reputation? But no matter, it was a charming piece of entertainment, regardless.
ReplyDeleteFret not - most folks tend to read here in bursts, and the vast majority of my traffic comes from the search engines. I make comments about reading along, but for the most part i write to the future.
ReplyDeleteYou're right - more than merely gender flipping, it was a legacy continuation. But that sort of thing has been discarded in modern media. Legacy characters get scrubbed for reboots and nothing can move forward any more. So i ignored that angle.
I'll disagree that Giltrock complaining about $50 while shelling out $10,000 is 'off' for the character. It might be somewhat insane behaviour, but it's VERY typical and we see it all the time from wealthy frellniks in this country who are willing to spend vast sums of money to prevent far less money from going where they don't want it.
That's spot on for me. It's all about ego and addiction, and has nothing to do with the money itself. Yes, it's comic book evil - but it's all around us, too.
