Don had another reputation back in the '70s - one that may have made him more highly regarded in some circles than did his story telling. From that, we got scores of cartoons and spot illos from him of a seemingly random nature. But, really - there is something tying all of these together...

I'm glad Unca $crooge hated those borderless panels and rectangular word balloons in Gold Key's comics as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteThose rectangular word balloons were particularly jarring, and made the comics seem somehow cheaper to me. Like they couldn't manage 'real' word balloons.
ReplyDeleteBut, i think that Unc is advocating borderless panels there since he hates anything that costs him money, and they've got a price tag.
He's pricing panel borders because he wasn't provided with any.
