Meanwhile, lurking in a dark alley...
While the main system and i are down in the dark, i'm in the right state of mind to be doing drudge work. Some less visible happenings are going on currently.
A while back, Google/Blogger decided to freshen things up a bit. One of the decisions they made at that time was to change the default size on displayed text. It flipped from Normal to Smallest. So folks viewing old posts would see the small credits at the bottom of the post at twice the size of the actual post. Some readers may recall when i was trying to sort out what had happened. Eventually i realized that normal wasn't Normal, and i've hand set the text to normal size since that point. But that left hundreds of posts at the tiny text size.
So, i've been going through and setting each post by hand. We've caught up to the end of 2017, with the exception of one post from the King Kirby 100. Blogger will not allow me to edit that post unless i delete part. So, it stays tiny.
Only another 500 posts or so to go...

So, what's the pic at the top? I wanted to include an image, as is my wont, but only have access to a scattering of old material at the moment. I believe i ran a Pulp Fiction Cover previously for Urban Zombie Tales. That's the painting without the text.
And, in case i'm misremembering, here's the texted version -

I don't understand what the problem is that you had with text size. I've never had a problem in my nine years of blogging. I started in 2010, using the defaults. In 2013 I made a few tweaks, and I haven't touched the settings since. Have you tried editing the theme to change the text size globally?
ReplyDeleteTheme -> Customize -> Advanced -> Page Text
I'm something of a nexus for system anomalies and glitches - whether electronic, mechanical, bureaucratic, or whatever.
DeleteDid you have to re-subscribe to blog notifications at some point earlier this year? That's when things changed for me. I haven't touched the settings since setting this one up, they simply changed.
I just looked at the blog i set up here back in '09, and it doesn't seem to be afflicted the same way.
I just opened up the settings display you suggest, and while it offers to set the fonts at a ##px size, there's no reference to the small/normal/large font settings. I suspect if i change the number displayed there, it'll screw up everything that's now properly tagged.
And it still wouldn't explain why any text that isn't font size tagged is Smallest size. It might change the scale of the problem, but not fix it.
Of course, i might be missing something very obvious to regular folk.
Hmm...
DeleteThat's interesting. And odd.
I just went into the Theme menu on the old blog to see how the px size numbering compared to the current set-up. That old blog isn't allowed to access the Advanced tab.
Again - no clue.
A few years ago I was offered the possibility of voluntarily receiving comments via Google+. I decided against it, because I didn't use Google+, at least not actively. When Google+ was discontinued this year, people who received their comments via Google+ had to change it back to Blogger. Is that what you mean by the blog notifications?
DeleteThe small/normal/large font settings are relative to the point size in the Theme settings.
No, that wasn't it. I remember the Google+ bit, but this was more recent, earlier in 2019. They sent out some little notice about some changes, and then suddenly i stopped receiving email notification and had to got back to the settings and turn it on again.
DeleteThat's what i suspected on the font size setting. So, it's not the problem. The problem is anything that i do not select and tag as Normal is displayed at the Smallest size by default.
And so my brain continues to rot...
