It's nifty to see some Sal Amendola artwork being featured. I always rather liked Amendola's lanky and offbeat take on Phoenix from Atlas-Seaboard. It fit the series somehow.

I have to admit to not having really noticed Amendola as a reader in the old days with a couple of rare exceptions. One being his work in Weird Worlds. I grew up big Edgar Rice Burroughs fan, which helped me to notice him on John Carter.
ReplyDeleteThe other exception was the Phoenix miniseries you mentioned. In both cases, he seemed especially well suited. But it wasn't until more recent years reading back through comics history that i've started to appreciate his work more.
